The latest TV-movie of the week is: The Parent Trap II (1986), which tells us what became of The Parent Trap's Susan and Sharon. Because somebody just couldn't leave well enough alone.

Also, last week's movie was: Mermaid (2000). Overly-sentimental plot, cute little girl, Mermaid balloon, and Prince Edward Island. It's a fun combo. Check it out.

There's a Parent Trap III, too (which I've never seen) and even a fourth (which I saw when I was 9 and remember nothing about), but I doubt I'll actively seek out either of those.

But you have to watch them, Molly -- Hayley Mills is in all of them, so they're part of the Parent Trap canon! That is pretty cool that she did all four films, though, especially if the second one was decidedly worse (and judging from the IMDb ratings, the subsequent films were progressively so). How many fairly well-known actors can you think of that would stick with a relatively obscure series through four films? Support your Hayley by watching her work!

I still think it is a crime for a movie called Mermaid to be about anything other than a sexy fish-tailed woman of the sea.

I think they were all released commercially (because I seem to remember my aunt renting #4 for us, along with Supergirl. Oddly I saw #4 before I ever saw the original PT. I was afraid to see any of them because the word "trap" was in the title, and I was thinking mousetraps and/or quicksand, and neither sounded very pleasant). However, only the first two are on DVD and I'd have to hunt for the others and... yeah I'm lazy.
